Orloj
Discover Prague's Beautiful Astronomical Clock!
Function: Product description / presentation
Usage: Proof of concept for animation / design / product description and presentation
Description: The Prague Astronomical Clock or Prague Orloj is a medieval astronomical clock located in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. The Orloj is mounted on the southern wall of Old Town City Hall in the Old Town Square and was constructed in 1410.
According to an old Bohemian legend, Jan Hanuš, the master clockmaker of Prague's famous medieval astronomical clock, which has entertained crowds in Old Town Square for centuries, was blinded by town hall officials in the 15th century to ensure that he would not recreate another clock like "Orloj" in any other city. Master Hanuš allegedly took revenge by damaging the mechanisms so severely that those who tried to repair the clock either died trying or went mad. It took another 100 years for the clock to work again.
The Orloj is composed of three main components: the astronomical dial, representing the position of the Sun and Moon in the sky and displaying various astronomical details; "The Walk of the Apostles", a clockwork hourly show of figures of the Apostles and other moving sculptures; and a calendar dial with medallions representing the months.
This is an old fashion lottery ticket, simply scratch off the panel to see if you have won.
Shaking the phone gives you a new ticket. Have fun!
